Psychiatric Nursing: An Integration Of Theory And Practice
O'Brien, Kennedy & Ballard
1999 McGraw-Hill
Robert Jackson
Bachelor of Nursing, (Psychiatry / General), Greater Murray Area, Health Service
This is a comprehensive and well presented text which is suited not only to the student body but also to the Graduate Registered Nurse as an ongoing resource.
The format of supportive paragraphs inserted into margins to support the text is an ideal adjunct to the use of reference work. Further to this, the question and answer sections at the end of chapters is a stimulating aspect of making one's way through this excellent tome.
Information presented has obviously been well researched and presented in a user friendly format. This text covers the complete range of psychiatric disorders, their associated problems and practical plans for treatment and management.
I was pleased to find information on clients with acute, chronic and terminal illness and the associated pathophysiology in regard to mental illness.
This is one of the few texts which truly melds theory and practice into a practical format. I would highly recommend this to mental health professionals.
