Abstract
Asthma is a chronic illness which affects 1 in 4 children, 1 in 7 adolescents and 1 in 10 adults. Effective control of asthma requires a good level of knowledge and self-management. Current literature supports the premise that education is a vital ingredient in self-management. In this paper, the author has studied the literature to determine the factors which influence asthma management to determine if education alone is the key to good control or if compliance with asthma management regimens is reliant on factors other than education alone.
