The following is a review of Volume 1.
In the modern era, the care and treatment of mental health problems must be collaborative, cost effective and rooted in reality. At the end of the day, it matters not which professional discipline it is that cares for a distressed or disturbed person-whether or not their predicament is capable of formal psychiatric classification. What is paramount is that effective, therapeutic and competent interventions have been utilised to ensure safe and caring practice.
This text speaks to the above ideals. It is aimed primarily at mental health professionals, general practitioners, and community nurses working with people who suffer from mental illness. There are two volumes in the set. Volume 1 is chiefly concerned with core management and problem solving skills for use in clinical practice, medication administration, use, monitoring and affective disorders, anxiety and somatoform disorders.
