Abstract
Contemporary Nurse closes 2002 with a bonus issue for the year, focusing on Indigenous Health and Nursing Research Methods.
Special thanks are due to Professor Jan Fook (Director, Centre for Professional Development, La Trobe University) for her thoughtful Editorial on the emerging challenges facing healthcare professionalism and practice, both in social work and in nursing.
As is customary, we gratefully acknowledge the commitment of Contemporary Nurse's editorial board, the work of many anonymous peer reviewers, our increasing pool of authors and growing numbers of subscribers in the Asia Pacific region. We thank you for making 2002 an exceptional year, with record numbers of manuscript submissions and sustainable levels of subscription renewals.
Special thanks are also due to individual editorial board members, reviewers and authors who have provided such constructive feedback on Contemporary Nurse's first book, Practice Wisdom for Contemporary Nurses, edited by Professors Annette Street and Ruth Endacott from La Trobe. We are currently compiling your responses to ensure that the final book addresses as many of your suggestions as we can. As a result, publication has been moved from March 2003 to July 2003.
Daily international requests for Contemporary Nurse articles are being received from searches of tables of contents, abstracts and full text materials loaded onto www.contemporarynurse.com that now date back to volume 6 (1997). Thanks are due to Jann Foster at University of Western Sydney for assembling materials from volumes 1 - 5 of Contemporary Nurse for the website. We expect all of these materials from volumes 1 - 14, as well as current materials from volume 15, to become available on www.contemporarynurse.com through 2003
Over 2003, Contemporary Nurse will continue to innovate with delivery platform, scope, board composition and educational content. We encourage you to recommend the Student's Corner and Literature Review sections to your students, to submit your own research and book reviews and to use the many practical articles appearing in Contemporary Nurse articles and editorials in your tutorials. Conference listings and reports are also welcome.
With best wishes for a peaceful Christmas and prosperous New Year.
We look forward to sharing it with you.
