Contemporary Nurse has made a successful transition to its new owners in 2001. Manuscript backlogs have been reduced, the publishing frequency increased, key institutional subscribers retained in Australia and expanded in Asia, New Zealand, North America and Europe, while moving from a January to December (calendar year) to July to June (financial year) publishing cycle. Manuscript submission levels remain steady, with special issues, methodology and literature review sections added to the unique mix of article types which Contemporary Nurse publishes.
With more regional content, the composition of the Editorial Board has adapted to recognize contributions from Asia-Pacific member countries. We welcome new board members from Japan, Taiwan, New Zealand, Canada, Singapore, Hong Kong, Thailand and the UK who actively represent the interests of readers and authors in their countries. Thanks are due to the Editorial Board members of Contemporary Nurse who have played an invaluable role in guiding these changes, encouraging manuscript submission and providing much appreciated anonymous peer review, and references to peer reviewers, for the steady stream of manuscripts received monthly.
Contemporary Nurse draws on a large dynamic database of referees, to which new members are always welcome. By their nature, these referees are anonymous, but greatly appreciated by Contemporary Nurse authors for their objective, critical and thorough reports on the manuscripts they review. The authors and publisher thank you for helping to improve their papers and meet new bi-monthly publication deadlines.
Subscribers and authors are encouraged to visit the Contemporary Nurse website at www.contemporarynurse.com. Its features and functionality enable:
- Lecturers, students and practitioners to scan the Contemporary Nurse database, using a 'search' function to find valuable research and teaching materials, and to reproduce materials from the site with due acknowledgment to the author and publisher;
- Lecturers and students to use the Guidelines for Submission under 'Contributing to the Journal' to develop manuscripts and references which comply with the Contemporary Nurse standard;
- Authors to find titles, abstracts, keywords and article citations before they appear in print;
- Librarians, agents and individuals to subscribe or request sample copies using the 'Subscription Information' tab.
We welcome comments from Contemporary Nurse subscribers at any time - whether they relate to web design, content, medium, frequency, conference listings, promotional opportunities or price - and trust that the journal will continue to adapt to meet or exceed your expectations through 2002.
Best wishes for a peaceful Festive Season and prosperous New Year.
