Abstract
With this issue, we complete Volume 10 of Contemporary Nurse and announce Volumes 11 and 12 to be published every 2 months in the financial year 2001/2002. While maintaining the journal's commitment to quality through the blind peer review process, our aim is to reduce publication delays to 4 months between submission and publication. The publication of Volume 10 in 2 double issues and now the expanded and accelerated schedule for Contemporary Nurse Volumes 11 & 12 has addressed the strong growth in manuscript submissions seen through 1999 and 2000, and we are on track to meet this aim.
To demonstrate this commitment, 'acceptance' dates will again appear on the title pages of published manuscripts from Volume 11. Comments are sought from readers and authors as to whether you would like to have 'received' and 'revised version received' dates appearing on title pages as well.
With this issue, we welcome to the Editorial Board new members from Thailand, Hong Kong, Canada, New Zealand, and new institutions in Australia. Our new board members will help us not only to achieve the above goals of quality and speed, but also serve to raise the profile of Contemporary Nurse in our region. Further appointments in Singapore, Malaysia, New Zealand and Australia are expected in Volume 11. To selected universities and hospitals in Vanuatu, Fiji, Papua New Guinea and Vietnam, we offer a total of 10 complimentary back sets of Volumes 6 to 9 of Contemporary Nurse. Please e-mail your nominations of key nursing research, teaching and practice hospitals and universities to the publisher at info@contemporarynurse.com.
While Contemporary Nurse continues to appear as a peer-reviewed journal in print, Contemporary Nurse now has its own web site at www.contemporarynurse.com. This will be a valuable point of referral to your colleagues who wish to browse abstracts of published materials, read editorials and book reviews from back issues, submit manuscripts for publications, order back issues or start new subscribe to Contemporary Nurses. We welcome your comments on its design, how you would like it to be made more pertinent to your daily use, such as through the inclusion of chatrooms, directories, news and e-mail facilities, and whether you would like to have product reviews and library functions available. The aims and scope of the journal have been slightly adjusted to encourage literature reviews from graduate papers and theses, research methodology articles and clinical protocols for the practice section. Again, your ideas on new types of articles, sections and emphases are welcome, for discussion with the Editorial Board.
The team at Contemporary Nurse thanks you for your patience during the transition of owners, and trust that the new page design, expansion, commitment to quality and speed, and Internet initiatives meet with your expectations.
